The Texas Prison Doula Program provides professional, trauma-informed doula support to pregnant and postpartum individuals in correctional facilities across the state of Texas. We believe every woman—no matter her circumstances—deserves respectful care, informed choice, and emotional support throughout her pregnancy and birth experience.
Our trained doulas work alongside medical teams, correctional staff, and community organizations to improve maternal outcomes and uphold the dignity of incarcerated mothers. Through consistent, compassionate presence, we help bridge the gap between systems of justice and systems of care.
Our Mission
To ensure that every incarcerated pregnant person in Texas receives equitable, trauma-informed perinatal care and continuous support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery.
We advocate for:
Human dignity within the correctional healthcare system

Involvement
How Involvement Works
At this time, our program is operating in a pilot season, which means we are focused on building meaningful experiences and support through volunteer-based involvement. This season allows us to refine our services, connect deeply with families, and ensure that our model of doula care is impactful and sustainable.
All of our current doula support—prenatal, labor, and postpartum—is being provided by volunteers who are passionate about nurturing families and supporting birth journeys. As we grow, we hope to explore future initiatives, partnerships, or program expansions, but until then, every interaction is fueled by care, commitment, and community.
